Trauma surgeon Dr. Gabriel Börner often saw patients suffer from complications after open abdominal surgery. Inspired by evidence that the small-bites technique could significantly reduce these issues, he founded Suturion in 2018. Now Suturion has entered the first commercial production of SutureTOOL™.

Resembling an advanced surgical sewing device, SutureTOOL™ enables surgeons to adopt the recommended small-bites technique with precision — to reduce the risk of complications and improve patient outcomes.

After extensive pre-clinical research, Suturion announced in February that they had received FDA approval. Now Suturion has entered a new chapter: their first commercial production.

On LinkedIn, Suturion writes:

"Johan Johansson, Mechanical Design Engineer, and Nahuom Naizghi, Mechanical Design Engineer & Project lead, have just been in Italy to participate in the first commercial production of SutureTOOL™ — an important step toward bringing our innovation to market. A huge thank you to our manufacturing partner for the collaboration as we move closer to launching a device that makes abdominal fascia closure standardized, fast, and safe."
