Xenergic is developing technology intended to reduce electricity consumption by more than half in certain types of memory circuits, with the aim of prolonging battery life in connected products. The technology deals with a new type of SRAM memory developed at the Department of Electrical and Information Technology at Lund University’s Faculty of Engineering. SRAM is a type of computer memory which is used as a cache memory for temporary file storage, among other things, as well as to speed up calculations in high-performance microprocessors. Currently, memory accounts for around 70 per cent of energy consumption in integrated circuits. Xenergic has developed very energy-efficient memories which are very small in terms of surface area.
