C2Amps started in 2017 and is working on developing new types of nanotransistors with unique performance. The company has already established contacts with international industry.


Lighting currently represents almost 25 percent of all electricity consumption. By controlling how nanowires grow on silicon plates, the nanotechnology company Glo produces LEDs that are ten times more energy-efficient than incandescent light bulbs; this could reduce total electricity consumption by almost 20 percent.

QuMat Technologies

Nanoscience researchers in Lund, headed by Lars Samuelson, were the first in the world to produce components for electronics and photonics with nano dimensions. The technology makes it possible to create strings of semiconductor material with a breadth the size of an electron.

In 2007 nanotechnology company QuNano was nominated for the GoingGreen Top 100 Competition in California and, together with spin-offs Glo and Sol Voltaics, has succeeded in attracting SEK 385 million in venture capital. The company was hived off from the University’s Nanometre Structure Consortium in 2005 and holds patents from research on nanowires.

Sol Voltaics

By using nanotechnology to produce more efficient solar cells than can be achieved with traditional technology, solar power could become a real challenger to fossil fuels. The company Sol Voltaics developed a completely new method in which simple wires are built in the gas phase, known as aerotaxy. Behind the company is Professor Lars Samuelson, who also founded Glo and Qunano.
