BeammWave

Beam a better future for mobile networks

Picture. Close up on Beammwave's chip

The rise of 5G and the upcoming arrival of 6G bring exciting possibilities, but also significant challenges. As mobile frequencies climb higher, their range shrinks, and signals become increasingly vulnerable to interference from obstacles.

Large mobile manufacturers use analog beamforming to direct signals. This approach requires space and has limited efficiency. Building upon research from Lund University, BeammWave is instead developing digital beamforming to deliver a high-performing connection where analog beamforming falls short. By digitally controlling the transmission and reception of signals, BeammWave aims to enhance network performance using a small, cost-effective chip.

In 2024, BeammWave achieved a significant milestone by successfully demonstrating distributed digital beamforming for 5G, becoming the first company worldwide to do so. BeammWave also launched a complete development platform and has successfully sold it to three global giants.
