Record number of ideas from researchers
This year's figures show the highest number of reported ideas from LU researchers ever recorded. The increase is particularly notable from LTH and from the social science faculties. In 2025, LU Innovation also contributed to improved national statistics on innovation from Swedish higher education institutions.
Funding and support
The report provides an overview of enhanced external funding opportunities for innovation projects, and looks ahead to 2026. It also describes how the innovation journey can strengthen research, and how LU Innovation and LU Ventures collaborate through the Business Track tool and the various roles along a spinout journey.
New programmes, awards and initiatives
Among this year's highlights are the Social Impact Lab, the After Science Network, and several other programmes and events aimed at researchers and students. The 2025 Innovation Award recognises outstanding contributions at the university, and Vice-Chancellor Erik Renström opens the report with a foreword on why innovation is key to Lund University's mission.
Six new spin-outs with LU Ventures
In 2025, six new spin-out companies were established in collaboration with LU Ventures — companies that take research from Lund University further and transform it into concrete solutions with the potential to make a difference globally. The report also includes an appendix with news from the university's spin-out companies, offering a glimpse into how ideas from LU continue to evolve.
